JUST ANOTHER WOMAN’S BODY FOUND IN ANOTHER

BODY OF WATER?

How many times has it been heard that another young woman has been disposed of in a large body of water just to get rid of her remains? When these bodies float ashore, it’s just another callous, carousing husband who gets investigated. But what if a husband isn’t involved and it isn’t a crime of domestic violence? What if the killers disposed of the body in such a way that it should never have been recovered, but a freak twist of events does that very thing?

FBI Special Agent Daniel Kleison is assigned the rather mundane task of identifying the jurisdiction of the murder of a young girl’s body discovered in the middle of Lake Michigan. His initial investigation of the meager evidence leads him to suspect a complex and disturbing involvement of suspects nowhere near the norm for such a killing. He requests the assistance of a Bureau expert to help him understand the strange peculiarities pointing him in a direction of accountability but gets an outside consultant instead. This unlikely expert poses a troubling concern he has to work around, although he realizes having her with him would be better than not having her around. Not only might Elizabeth Brumer be an unwitting mole placed in his investigation to derail it, but she is also a young nun in a state of denial and quavering faith. While the two forge on to learn who killed their mysterious victim, certain phenomena begin to occur that have everyone thinking the victim might be the cause of miracles.

This is smart fiction, written by new and upcoming author, M.C. Glynne. In the tradition of the mystery genre conducive to readers who enjoy crisp narrative and fast-paced investigative recounting, Smoke and Miracles takes the common crime of murder and puts a morbid spin on it. With a fluid evolution of the body’s discovery, to the climactic end of discovering the killers and their frightening motivations, this story unveils questions only a reader’s personal faith can answer. Make no mistake about it; this is not Christian fiction. On the contrary, it is sure to cause some divisive criticism for the direction it takes, which undoubtedly will be a marketable draw. However, Ms. Glynne has kept the storytelling to a neutral tone and uses two opposing viewpoints on religion to create a convincing argument on faith.
